There are more than 20 types of Muscular Dystrophy - all caused by faults in the genes - all leading to increasing muscle weakness as muscle cells breakdown and are gradually lost. To date, this devastating disease has no cure although research continues to make progress in this direction. 

The Muscular Dystrophy campaign is the only UK charity that focuses on all types of Muscular Dystrophies. The charity funds vital research into the condition and possible treatments, along with providing support, assistance and information to families who have members affected by the disease.
